Bridges in Dartford

Bridges are one of the dental restoration treatments we offer here at Kreate Dental.

What is a bridge?

A bridge is installed to literally bridge a gap in your mouth. Usually, this becomes necessary due to a missing a tooth. If this is the case, a false tooth will be bonded to the natural teeth on one side or either side of it.

What are bridges made of?

A bridge is normally made of precious metal and porcelain.

What is the process of getting a bridge like?

Once it’s been established that a bridge is necessary, we will prepare your tooth or teeth for a bridge which involves slightly slendering the tooth or teeth. We will then take an impression of your teeth using a silicone mould here at the dental practice. We’ll then send the mould off to a lab technician to have your personal bridge made.

Once the permanent bridge is ready, you’ll return to the practice to have it fitted. At this point, we’ll administer a local anaesthetic so that any discomfort is blocked but you can remain awake throughout. If necessary, we can also offer sedation.

What happens after?

You will need to take care with hot and cold food a drink for a while as you may experience increased sensitivity. This should begin to disappear within a couple of days.

Otherwise, you can care for your bridge as you would your natural teeth: brushing for two minutes twice daily and flossing regularly. You will also need to clean in the gap beneath the bridge with a special dental floss.
